Proponents say to get rid of the sticker label, which is deemed wasteful.
Lasering foods could help with annoying sticky labels, and save the time it takes to stick each veggie or fruit with one. The laser is said to be safe as it only carves the outside of the veggie and creates a sort of “callous” seal on the veggie so as to prevent bacterial invasion. Although some think with longer term storage the fruit or veggie might look damaged from decay around the area the food was lasered and not look good enough to sell.
