    Probiotics are defined as “live microorganisms which when administered in adequate amounts, confer a beneficial health effect on the host.” Probiotic foods contain microorganisms that are good to include in a daily diet.

    Probiotic foods have living microorganisms, usually bacteria, that are similar to the microorganisms found in the human digestive system. They are commonly referred to as “good bacteria” and “friendly bacteria”. Some foods that contain probiotics are; yogurt, miso, tempeh, fermented and unfermented milk, and some soy drinks and juices.
