The Oil Pollution Act of 1990 made new requirements of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act and also amended existing parts of it. It made better the response to oil spill accidents and made stricter standards for assessing natural resources damage. It provided additional plans for fish and wildlife in case of accidents and provided contingency plans and assessment for accidents.
