Gorillas’ diets consist mostly of plants. They eat a variety of fruit, flowers, tree bark, roots, leaves, stems, and bulbs.
The mountain gorilla eats plants like celery, nettles, bamboo, and thistles. This species of gorilla’s diet is mostly plants as there is little fruit available to them. The Western lowland gorilla consumes about 95 different plant species, about 67% of which are fruits.
Diet of eastern and western gorillas are slightly different form each other. Eastern gorillas eat leaves, and western eat mostly fruit but they eat leaves to some extent. Since plants contain large amounts of water, gorillas do not need to consume any other fluids but those from plants.
