Some plants are far better at this than others so here is a list of several common house plants that are extremely efficient at cleaning the air in you home or apartment.

Epipremnum aureum, more commonly known as Devils Ivy or Golden Pathos, is another house plant than has been scientifically proven to filter toxins such as such as xylene, formaldehyde and benzene. These vine-like plants can grow several stories high in the wild, however when kept in the house are usually trimmed and kept much smaller. English Ivy, also known as Hedera Helix is a fast-growing vine native to most of Europe; because it thrives so well, in the United States it is considered an invasive species. The plant can contort itself to grow just about anywhere and can change its appearance based on its surroundings; when it is kept as a house plat, it is kept under control by periodic trimmings to keep it from growing to quickly and getting to large.
The Weeping Fig, commonly sold mislabeled only as ‘Ficus’ is a species of fig tree native to parts of Asia. These plants have been brought to America as they are praised for their beauty as well as their fruit. In the wild, these trees can grow to be one-hundred feet high, so they are typically kept as house plants when they are seedlings so they require a fair amount of attention like just the right amount of water.
