This might surprise you. Though Mercury is closer to the sun, Venus actually has a hotter temperature. This is due to the very thick atmosphere surrounding Venus that causes the heat to become trapped. Mercury reaches up to 430 degrees, while Venus can reach up to 900 degrees.
Venus is known to be the hottest planet in the solar system; temperatures at the surface are about 500 degrees Celsius.
