What is a pika?

    The pika is a small mammal, with short limbs, rounded ears, and short tail. The name pika is used for any member of the Ochotonidae, a family which includes the rabbits and hares.  Pikas are about 6 to 9 inches in body length and weigh only 120 to 350 grams.  They are found in cold climates, mostly in Asia, North America and parts of eastern Europe.

    The pika is a small mammal, between 6-8 inches and 6 ounces, with brown fur, large ears and no tail. They live in cold climates but are also found in other regions including western North America from central British Columbia in Canada to Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, California and New Mexico.
