Based on 2006 data, the Saudi Arabia has the most oil reserves and production, a country that has around 29 million people. Next in line would be Russia and the US. These 3 countries have about 400 million people, that makes around 5.9% of the worlds population.
If we only count Saudi Arabia, that’s 0.44%.
Russia and the US are next after Saudi Arabia in production, but not in reserves. US reserves amount to less than 2% of estimated world reserves for 4% of world population. Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Iran hold about 42% of world oil reserves and those three nations have about 2% of world population.
