What percentage of the worlds diamonds come from Africa?

Sixty percent.  Despiite the release of the movie Blood Diamonds, the industry hasn’t shown any decrease.  Botswana is known for its legitimate diamond industry and has it to thank for pulling the country out of the list of poorer nations and jumping into a rapidly advancing economy since the ’60s.

Africa does produce 60% of the worlds gem diamonds (second link; world total 74 million carats). Africa produces about 25% of world industrial diamonds (first link; 55 million carats). And Africa produces almost none of the synthetic diamonds (98%+ of all industrial diamonds used; over 4 Billion carats total) – the vast majority of those diamonds are made in China.
