The main problem with the spill right now is that no one really knows how much of the oil will be cleaned up. More and more of the oil keeps being released into the gulf, and the oil that is already in the water is spreading all over the coast. There are many different ways to clean up oil, but none of them are meant for a spill this big. In a best case scenario, all of the oil would be recovered somehow, but this is very unlikely. In similar large spills, usually 85-95% of the oil is cleaned up, and this is enough because oil naturally seeps into the ocean whether or not there is a man made leak.
