It’s hard to find an exact percentage. Sixteen species of sharks, five different species of sea turtles, and hundreds of different shellfish and fish species live in the Gulf. To be honest, most scientists have no idea how much life is actually in the ocean so there is no way to put a percentage. Scientists constantly discover new marine species. The fact is that the Gulf of Mexico is filled with life, and lots of those species are actually endangered.
