Only 0.06%, 6 hundredths of a percent, comes from energy sources classified as renewable. Hydroelectric power accounts for another 6%, standing as China’s largest source of renewable energy. If you are willing to include natural gas power, that makes up another 3%. Taken together all of these are only ~9.06% of China’s total energy use.
The vast majority of China’s energy is produced by fossil fuel burning, 70% from coal, and 20% from oil. Nuclear makes up the last 1% of China’s energy pie.
