According to a study published in 2002, between 22-47% of plants globally are endangered. They say that between 94,000 and 144,000 species are at risk of extinction throughout the world. In America, the Center for Plant Consevation reports that about 30% of the native plant species are at least threatened, and are of “conservation concern”. Studies on plant species and conservation measures are extremely difficult to produce, and statistics have seemed to vary slightly. Many of the reports also point out that there are still a large amount of plant species that have not been identified, and that they may become extinct before ever being discovered.
