The figures are hard to come by. It looks like the most recent statistic is on the Forest Survey of India’s website (see link). They have an e-report of India’s forests, and you should find what you’re looking for there. As far as other environmental and financial reports, you may want to reference a recent report by the World Bank (see link). The World Bank invested over 830 million US dollars into Indian forest development, but too few of “post 1991 projects” have been done to see the true impact of the forest development.
