The CIA world factbook (of 2003) states that people own a total of 1.4 billion televisions worldwide. The total world population in 2009 was 6.775 billion people. So an average of 17% per household own a television.
There are many fewer households than the total world population – probably something like 3+ people per household, so the average number of households with TVs would be at least triple 17%.
