So far from what I’ve read there are approximately 75,000 dams within the United States. The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Reclamation Bureau states that we get only seven percent of our power from hydropower sources, including pumped storage, even though those sources only generate 12 percent of their capacity. I haven’t found any sources that give a straight answer to your question but it would be probable that the number of the dams in the US that produce hydroelectricity is small.
