What percentage of CO2 do soils and forests store?

Forest plants and soils store about 40 percent of all carbon in the biosphere.  They store more carbon than any other ecosystem.  Overall, soil stores more carbon than vegetation.  However, this depends more on the type of forest than the actual vegetation or soil in and of itself.
