The rainforests are home to about 50% of all species of plants and animals. This is particularly amazing considering that rainforests make up less than 2% of the Earth’s land area. Only four square miles of rainforest can contain around 1,500 flowering plants, 750 species of trees, 400 species of birds and 150 species of butterflies.
