What percent of greenhouse gas emissions are a result of the livestock industry?

    According to the EPA, in 2007 the agricultural industry was responsible for six percent of total greenhouse gas emissions (in the United States). Of that, “enteric fermentation” (i.e., cow gas!) and manure management accounted for 24% and 8%, respectively, of total methane emissions.
