What is pentane used for?

One of the primary uses for pentane is a solvent in laboratories. This means that other materials, solutes, can easily be dissolved into this alkaline liquid for experimental purposes. It also evaporates easily if the solutes must be isolated.

It is blown to create polystyrene foam, and has certain uses in geothermal power stations.

Pentane is an organic compound. It is component of some fuels and is added as an solvent in fuel production. Due to the fact that it is inexpensive and has a low boiling point it is used in refrigerant blends as well. In addition to that it is the primary blowing agent in the production of polystyrene foam.
