Algea produce oxygen so the coast has a lot of oxygen (deeper parts of the ocean receive less sunlight so algae aren’t able to produce as much oxygen.)
Oxygen levels in the ocean are closely related to the oxygen levels in the atmosphere, and this relationship is a part of the global system, related to the weather and climate, as well as the currents of the ocean. Also, areas that are plentiful of marine plants are more oxygen-rich because the plants remove carbon dioxide from the water.
