A turbine is a machine that turns because of some motion – wind, water, wave, for example. It will be pretty hard to make something that is turned by the wind that does not interact with things in the wind, such as birds. Conceivably there could be some kind of enclosing or screening, but that will reduce the wind and the energy produced by the turbines.
The helix windmill is supposedly better for birds, bats, and other flying animals. Unlike the normal wind turbine, the helix windmill has a helix-shaped rotor that spins at much slower rates so that it appears as a solid mass to birds and bees as opposed to a sharp blurring blade which birds and bats have a harder time detecting.
Can helix wind turbine generate as much energy as the current popular bird-killing kind?
