Viruses are organisms. They may reproduce by pirating a body cell of another organism to produce its offspring, but this is just the way that they have evolved to survive. As to their original origins no ones is exactly sure as they are far too tiny to leave a fossil record.
Viruses are not caused by any particular organisms. Viruses themselves are made up of RNA, which enter a host cell in order to copy itself. Viruses do this because they are not considered to be living organisms, and therefore cannot copy themselves.
