The oldest living turtle we have today is 175 years old, which makes it young compared to the oldest tortoise on record, Adwaita, lived to the ripe old age of 255, which was determined by carbon dating.
I hope this helped!
As stated in the previous answer, we believe the oldest living turtle is 175 years old. Some tortoises from the Galapagos Islands were captured on ships and kept as potential food items because they required little care. Some of these tortoises had a date (year) carved into their shells so we have been able to estimate that they are well over 100 years old.
Many turtles live for 100 years or more. Box turtles, like many people have for pets, have been documented to live 104 years!
