Newgrange in Ireland is not only the oldest building in the world (built circa 3300-2900 BC, before the Great Pyramid in Giza), but actually serves as a burial mound.

The oldest intentional burial of any kind we have found is in Qafzeh Cave, Israel. Dating to about 100,000 years ago, the site consists of the bones of 15 individuals and 71 pieces of ocher and ocher stained tools. The presence of the ocher near the bones indicates some kind of ritual.
