What is the oldest object in space that we know about?

    On April 23rd, 2009, astronomers spotted the oldest object yet seen in the universe. This object, called “GRB 090423” by the Harvard University astronomy team that spotted it, was the radioactive remnants of an exploding star. The star had exploded 13 billion years ago – when the universe itself was only 600 million years old.
