    In the US, Yellowstone National Park was the first, established in 1872. It is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho.

    In the world Bogd Khan Uul is almost certainly the oldest, dating back to 18th century, when it was established by the Mongolian government as an area to be kept off limits to exploitation and to be protected for its beauty and nature.
