It is hard to know what the oldest language is. According to Ask-A-Linguist, the oldest written language is Sumerian or Egyptian, which were written from around 3200 BC.
The oldest language still in use today is Tamil, a Dravidian language spoken in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and immigrant communities around the world. Written Tamil dates back to at least 300 BCE.
A form of ancient Egyptian still survives as the liturgical language of the Coptic Church, but it is no longer used in everyday life.
