The world’s oldest dam was broken before it we even used.Built 4000 years ago near the pyramids south of Cairo was the dam of Sadd Al-Kafara.
The oldest surviving and standing dam in the world is the Grand Anicut, on the Kaveri River in Southern India. This dam was built in the second century BC, around 2,200 years ago.
