The world’s oldest bottle of wine was found near Speyer, Germany in 1867.  It was found during the excavation to build a house inside a Roman stone sarcophagus.  The wine dates back to about 325 A.D. and was preserved by what is believed to be olive oil sitting on top of the wine.
