Obama has so far increased the fuel standards for cars and trucks in model year 2011, allocated $4.5 billion to “greening” federal buildings in order to cut their energy usage, required the Department of Energy to issue energy efficiency standards for a broad class of residential and commercial products and vowed to invest in the transportation, electricity, industrial, building and agricultural sectors that reduce energy bills. It is widely speculated that, after the healthcare bill is passed, energy issues will be the next big item on Obama’s agenda.
