There are two things specifically that comes to mind. The first is his memorandum to the Department of Energy to implement more aggressive energy efficiency standards for household appliances as well as cars. The second thing that comes to mind is a program he presented at Earth Day 2009. This program would initiate projects to utilize ocean energy produced on the waters of the Outer Continental Shelf. The Recovery Act gave the Department of Energy $18.42 billion for research and to be given out to promote greener alternatives for energy.
