Presented by New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT), the Summer Streets program is part of the city’s initiation towards being green. On three Saturdays in August (8, 15, 22) from 7am – 1pm, certain portion of NYC’s streets will be closed to motor vehicles and opened up to people to breathe, walk, play, and bike. The NYC DOT hopes to encourage people to take cleaner, alternative forms of transportation.
NYC summer streets is a program organized by the Department of Transportation in Manhattan that closes main streets like Park Avenue, Times Square, and the connecting streets along the Brooklyn Bridge and Central Park to all motorized traffic. The program runs for three consecutive Saturdays and allows streets to open up for families to play, walk and bike. Below is the parent website. What a great idea!
