I’m not so sure what this has to do with the environment, but okay! The number one phobia is “arachnophobia,” or the fear of spiders. An estimated 50% of women and 10% of men suffer from arachnophobia. No one really knows why folks develop phobias…but an interesting theory asserts that it’s a remnant from the earlier days of our species’ development, when a higher level of fear was required in daily life for us to adequately avoid predators and dangerous situations while out hunting/gathering. Some also say that phobias are a hereditary issue.
Public speaking is the number one phobia due to a large fear with being scrutinized and evaluated by others. Check out the link for more information.
