A narwhal is a type of whale that lives in the arctic ocean. This species is identified by the long horn, or tusk, protruding from its head. Some believe the horn is used to stab prey, dig up the ocean floor, or break ice. However, since females do not have a horn of their own, it cannot be too important to their survival. It is more likely that the horn is used to attract a mate and show its dominance over other males.
