Are you referring to Shell’s nitrogen enriched diesel? Apparently, this type of diesel has proven to reduce fuel consumption in heavy-duty vehicles. It is an ultra low sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) and has already been on a trial basis in a few select states. Through research, it has shown that there has been a 4.8% reduction in fuel consumption in sever stop-and-go city services. Furthermore, the nitrogen enriched diesel contains “lubricity agents to help prevent fuel and pump and injector wear and damage”.
