Below is a good website explaining Planyc. In short, the plan has aspects effecting land use, water, transportation, energy, air, and climate change.
Prompted by Mayor Bloomberg in 2006, New York City launched a program for sweeping environmental reform called PlaNYC. The plan seeks to rework and enhance five key areas of the city – land, air, water, energy and transportation – in working towards a sustainable future. By optimizing the use of these resources, NYC hopes to become a model for greener cities.
Within PlaNYC is a program called GreeNYC whose mission is to motivate citizens to make greener choices in their everyday lives. The campaign aims to compel individuals to make “behavioral changes” and contribute to the city’s sustainability goals. The city is aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030.
