Some studies show that acai fruit pulp has a very high antioxidant capacity with even more antioxidant content than cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, or blueberry. Studies are ongoing, though, and according to WebMD, the jury is still out.
The Acai berry is only found on the flood plains of the Amazon river in Brazil, Used for centuries by the Amazon Indians to help boost energy, given to women when they have had children and as a general health boost when they were run down. http://webforhealth.com/where-is-acai-berry-grown/
It is a fruit grown in South America. Many cultures there have relied on it for many many generations as a source of nutrition. They are best when eaten fresh and not processed. For some cultures, when it is acai (pronounced a-sa-ee) season, the berry makes up most of their diet in several forms, but often in juice form.
