A mushroom is the fruiting body of a fungus, the gills underneath the cap of the mushroom release spores that are the main method of fungal reproduction.
Mushrooms are notable for their varied human uses. Some are edible (and in sharp contrast, some are poisonous); some act as psychedelic drugs. Others have uses in folk medicine. And mushrooms can also be used to dye wool and other such fibers.
