What is a mud volcano?

A mud volcano, also known as a mud dome, refers to a cone-shaped formation created by the excretion of liquids or gases from inside the earth. Mud volcanoes are usually less than 1-2 meters in height, though the largest are 10km in diameter and up to 700 meters in height, and usually form in volcanic regions. Hope this helps some.
