Strictly speaking in the U.S., the Appalachian mountain range has been the most bombarded by mountain top blasting. In 2007, Wired Magazine wrote that the EPA estimated, “that at least 2,300 square miles of forest — an area the size of Delaware — will be lost by 2010” and that’s on top of the more than 1,200 miles lost between 1985 and 2001.
