Though commonly seen as the number one enemy Carbon Dioxide is only seen as such because it is the most prevalent in the atmosphere (outside of water vapor). The most harmful greenhouse gas, as reported by the Envirommental Protection Agency, is methane. This silent odorless gas is 21 times more effective than carbon dioxide in trapping in heat in the atmosphere. In recent studies reported by the EPA, one of the leading contributors of methane into the environment was natural animal emissions.
Sulfur Hexafluoride, with a Carbon Dioxide mass equivalent of 21,682 tons per ton.
In addition to Sulfur Hexaflouride, Methane (CH4), a greenhouse gas produced by ruminant animals like cows and sheep, is more than 20 times more effective at trapping heat inside the atmosphere.
