I believe that one of the most polluted rivers in Asia is the Citarum River in West Java, Indonesia. More than 500 factories line the banks of the river and these factories deposit their chemical wastes into the river. In addition, large amounts of trash and waste left by humans can be found in the waters. It is so polluted, that locals do not attempt to fish there anymore.
According to the AsianCorrespondent.com, the Citarum River in West Java, Indonesia one, if not the most polluted river in Asia. Pollutants such as garbage and sewage have harmed this river which 30 million people rely on. In order to use the water from the Citarum to bathe in or drink, people must boil it first to kill the bacteria and get rid of the heavy metals and chemicals. It also floods quite often due to logging and and farming.
