Louisiana has seven types of venomous snakes. Most of them (fortunately) aren’t aggressive unless seriously provoked and no one species is considered to be the most poisonous. The Cottonmouth is the most likely of all venomous snakes to strike after balling up, exposing its fangs, and rattling its tail. They can render a very serious bite that results in massive swelling and severe nausea.
