The most invasive bird species in North America is the rock pigeon, also known as the rock dove, or simply the pigeon. The birds’ original natural habitat is cliffsides in Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia. After the bird was domesticated and escaped into urban environments in America, it flourished due the the skyscrapers’ similarity to the cliffs it builds nests in and the abundance of human food waste and the complete lack of predators.
