What is the most harsh penalty anyone can get for breaking an environmental law?

It depends what type of problem it is. If you were busted for destroying 100 trees at a private property, then that person will press charges and you can face up to 4-5 years in jail. If you broke a smaller law like cutting one tree down, you can face up to a fine to a couple of months in jail.
