Bisphenol A is a harmful synthetic estrogen found in many consumer-product plastics; when the plastics (usually #3 or #7 plastic bottles, to-go containers, baby bottles, etc.) containing BPA are heated, the toxic chemical leaks into its internal contents. Recognized as a “chemical concern” by the EPA, BPA is believed to have direct negative impacts on human life, including heart disease, diabetes, recurrent miscarriage, altered hormone levels and a reduction in male sexual function. These impacts of BPA are of significant importance because traces of BPA are present in approximately 93% of Americans over the age of six.
