Solar energy is by far the most expensive at more than 20 cents per kWh. Construction, production and decommissioning are all accrued into the cost. Construction is the only cost applicable to solar. However it should be noted that installing a solar energy eventually pays for itself through decreased electric bills. Depending on the consumer’s use of power and the efficiency of the system, electric bills might be eliminated altogether.
It should also be noted that a Harvard study found the social costs associated with coal mining and the burning of for energy production, is among the most expensive sources of energy despite low operating costs.
