A university in Australia developed a multi-cell solar cell that utilizes 43% of incident solar radiation. It uses materials/chemicals phosphorus, Gallium and indium as semiconductors. It said to be the most efficient solar cell to date but because of its expensive input of materials cost-effective production has yet to be managed.
According to one website that compared a long list of 200 watt rooftop solar cells, Sanyo Electric produces the top four most efficient solar cells of this kind currently available on the market, and are available in the US.
