Black widow spiders and Brown Recluse spiders can both be found in the home.
brown recluse black widow
The black widow can be found indoors in uncluttered spaces and their bites can be deadly.
The brown recluse is found all over the U.S. with high frequency in the south. Their bites can cause nerve damage or even be deadly.
At the end of last school year, my roommate was bitten by a brown recluse in Southern Illinois. She went to the ER a day after it happened, and spent 5 days in the hospital on medication and antibiotics. The poison can quickly eat away at your skin tissue, and if it’s not treated right away, your skin will start to die. If you happen to get bitten, try and find the spider, and bring it to the hospital with you… that way they can identify it, and put you on proper medications as soon as you get there!
Depending on where you live, there may be venomous spiders that live at homes in your area. Examples include black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders, and hobo spiders. Out of those, the black widows are the most toxic.
Just a note, this question should not be in the insect category, as spiders are arachnids and not insects.
